Alice and I were happy to be able to share the grand opening of the newest tasting room in the Finger Lakes and the second winery in Tompkins County. Nancy Tisch and Kit Kalfs, principals of “Bet The Farm” Winery now have a tasting room just north of Ithaca, halfway to Trumansburg.
The delightful tasting room and production facility are located in a big blue “barn”. “We wanted to keep it simple, so it’s really only two large rooms separated by a garage door” says Kit.
Bet The Farm has been a fixture in Aurora for close to a decade. They plan on staying in Aurora for a little while longer, but this will become the flagship location. It has a beautiful view of the Cayuga valley.
Two acres are current under vine, with plans for another two in the near future.
Kit and Nancy are producing classic FLX wines (see below) along with some pleasant surprises, such as Dornfleder and Zweigelt.
Being served in the tasting room are:
- Chardonnay 2017
- Pinot Gris 2017
- Traminette 2017
- Riesling 2017
- Dornfelder 2017
- Que Sera, Sera 2016 (66% Dornfelder and 34% Cab Sauv)
- Cayuga White 2017
